By Ryan Bressette and Devin Demaree/4-H County Council reporters,
Sumter County 4-H finished up this year with a lock-in and awards banquet.
The club members had a great time overnighter, though only a few were contenders for staying awake all night long.
The theme of the banquet was Hawaiian and everyone got free leis. Some of the awards that were given out were “Best Record Book” and Clover awards.
A favorite for the evening was the chocolate fountain.
This is a reminder that apple sales are due by Sept. 26th. The apple sales fundraiser is a good time for people to work on their phone communication skills. The person who makes the most phone calls get a prize. If you are planning to show a swine in the Sumter County Fair, all applications need to be signed by the 4-H Agent Sarah Hensley and turned in to the fair office by Sept. 16th.
It’s also time to kick-off the new 4-H year. This year’s 4-H enrollment night starts at 6:30 p.m. at the fair grounds on Sept. 22.
Make sure you attend so you can be in a 4-H club and get the proper information. All of the clubs will have information so you can get your questions answered and start off the new year.
There’s also plenty of fun planned for the evening including games and line dancing led by the 4- County Council youth as the adults and parents have question and answer time with the 4-H representatives.
There will even be a slide show presentation of the previous year’s club activities. For more information, contact Sumter County 4-H at 352-793-2728.
