Fire chief to retire in March

It was announced during a County Commission meeting that Sumter County Fire Chief William “Bill” Gulbrandsen will retire on March 31.
Gulbrandsen was hired in 2002 as the county’s first countywide fire chief to lead the newly consolidated fire service as the county’s ten volunteer fire departments unified to become Sumter County Fire Rescue (SCFR).
