LSCC Foundation exceeds its goals

The Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, Inc. exceeded its goal of $225,000 and raised $229,065 to help students in “Changing Lives and Building Futures” at Lake-Sumter State College during its Annual Campaign which ran from September through December. The annual campaign went far beyond raising funds. The funds will go directly to student support initiatives, including scholarships, programs, funding for books, technology, and other essential student needs. As we move forward through these challenging economic times, more and more people will take advantage of the educational opportunities that Lake-Sumter State College provides, including the newly established Baccalaureate degrees. For many of our students, the scholarships they receive provide the difference between graduating and achieving their dream of a college education or dropping out.
The Annual Campaign ended on December 31, 2012, and the results were presented at the LSSC Foundation’s Annual Board Meeting on January 16th. “We are most appreciative of the tremendous support that we receive from our community. It is because of their generosity that Lake-Sumter State College is able to make it possible for so many students to have the opportunity to achieve their dream of a college education,” said Executive Director Rosanne Brandeburg. The money raised will assist the Foundation in continuing its mission to help provide excellence in education, service to the community and financial assistance to students. In 2012, the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, Inc. provided 747 students with scholarships totaling $527,340.
The record profits were due in-part to the board members from our community that worked hard to help us exceed our goal and team chairs Mac Andrews, Isaac Deas, Jeanne Hays and Stephanie Joiner. In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, “we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” The LSSC Foundation appreciates the generosity of the following individuals and organizations: Atley Family Foundation, Beta Theta ESA # 4803, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Albert Leroy Brown Foundation, William & Robin Cauthen, Coca-Cola, Dream Makers, J.P. Donnelly Trust, Electrical Services Inc., Ellie Esch Estate, Ernie Morris Enterprises, First National Bank of Mount Dora, Senator Alan & Jeanne Hays, Helios Foundation, Insight Credit Union, Lake Mechanical Contractors, Lake-Sumter Computer Society, Jim & Bernadette Leware, M & J Groves, Ellanora McGinty Memorial, Progress Energy, H.O.
