Police arrested a suspect last Thursday in connect with the Aug. 20 shooting death of a Wildwood convenience store owner.
Quentell Jermaine Williams, 23, Wildwood, was arrested following a joint investigation by the Wildwood Police Department and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Williams was arrested without incident.
He was arrested for first-degree homicide, attempted armed robbery with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Williams was placed in the Sumter County Detention Center without bond.
The shooting happened about 10 p.m. on Aug. 20 in the parking lot of Kamal’s Mini Mart, 327 Kilgore St., according to police reports. Store owner Abdelwahab Kandah, the father of four, had just locked the store for the night and was leaving in his 2005 Dodge van when he was approached by the suspect.
During the attempted robbery, Kandah was shot twice.
