Three face charges of artifact digging

-A A +A

By Martin Steele

Three Sumter County residents face felony charges after allegedly being discovered earlier this month digging for artifacts on state lands.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officer on July 8 arrested the trio after a routine check of an archeological site in the Croom Wildlife Management Area (WMA) southwest of Bushnell. It was at least the second multiple arrest incident of this type in Sumter for the agency this year.
