    Coleman Homecoming celebration
    The First Baptist Church of Coleman will host a homecoming celebration at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26.
    There’ll be bluegrass music, with the gospel being preached by Pastor Keith Jones and a covered dish dinner.
    Linden church
    The Linden Church of God is celebrating its 101st anniversary homecoming at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
    The Southern Gospel Quartet Mark V will be singing in the morning service with dinner on the grounds on the grounds afterwards. Everyone is invited.

    Legion meal
    The American Legion, Post 18 on Hwy 44, just east of U.S. 301 in Wildwood will have a luncheon open to the public. The menu is: chicken and rice, green beans, salad, dessert and drink. The donation is $6.50. Bring a friend and enjoy good food and fellowship. For more information call 748-7009.

  • Indian Hill Fall Festival

    IndianHill Baptist Churchwill host their annual Fall Festival at 4 p.m. on Oct. 11. The church is located at  7319 C.R. 633 in  Bushnell.

    It’s free family fun and open to the public.

    Activities for all ages including:  Pee Wee games, face painting, dunk tank, sack races, tug-of-war, volleyball and a special visit from Smoky the Bear.

    There’ll be a baked goods contest, quilt raffle, 50/50 raffle and scarecrow building contest, as well as a live gospel music.

    Special meal
    South Sumter High School Project Graduation will be having a chicken and rice dinner. All dinners will include chicken and rice, green beans, roll, and dessert. The cost of each dinner is $7. Due to limited quantities, you must pre-purchase tickets and have them with you upon pick up. Tickets can be purchased through Stephanie Sponaugle at South Sumter High School or Tracey Bumpis at Leveritt and Associates.

    Food giveaway
    On Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon there will be a USDA food giveaway at the Church of The Fisherman.
    USDA giveaways are on the 1st Wednesday of the month. A limited number of packages are available on a first come first served basis. All are welcome. The Church of The Fisherman is at 589 N C.R. 470 in Lake Panasoffkee. Please call 352-793-3438 for more information.

  • Monster Dash

    The Lake-Sumter State College Alumni Association will host the 2nd Annual Monster Dash on Saturday, Oct. 25 beginning at 8 a.m., with a warm-up at 7:30 a.m.  The run/walk will be around Silver Lake, behind the college. Registration is from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and the entry fee is $25 and $30 day of race.

    Attendees are reminded to wear costumes and/or race as a team.

    Participants will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag. Awards will be given in age group categories. Vendor hosts are available to purchase a table to display your products and services for $30.

  • Friends, food and 'Vettes set for Wildwood Friday night

    "Friends, Food & ‘Vettes” food truck night is planned for Friday, Sept. 17 in the Wildwood City Hall Courtyard.  The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    This month, the “The Old Friends Band” will be playing songs from the 1970’s through the late 1980’s, country and easy listening.

    Restaurant row will be up and running along Wonders Street.
