  • Melon Patch planning summer theater - auditions opening

     This summer, the Melon Patch Children's Program will host the summer show, The SeussOdyssey. Parts are available for children ages 11 through 18 years.

    There is no cost for the summer production, however children will audition for parts, as in any main stage production. There are approximately 20 parts.

    The theater will accept five children interested in learning backstage or technical areas.

    The Dade Battlefield Historic State Park hosted their annual Eggs in the Park event on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Dozens of children came out for the hunt, fun and games - click the video at the bottom of the page for a slide show.     Heritage Festival set

    for Baker House

    Looking for some local Wildwood history?

    This is the weekend, with the 4th Annual Baker House Heritage Festival planned for Saturday, April 29. Hosted by the Wildwood Area Historical Association, the festival is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes live demonstrations of pioneer skills, living history camps and antique cars.

    The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County will be hosting a special dual celebratory event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22 at the Lake Panasoffkee shelter.

  • Brownwood site for arts and crafts festival

    Free festival celebrates handmade-in-the-USA artisan creations

     

     Brownwood Paddock Square will serve as the location for more than 200 craft artisans from around Florida and the nation, during the 21st Annual Brownwood Paddock Square Art & Craft Festival on April 15 – 16. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

  • Project Graduation Concert

     South Sumter High School Project Graduation will be hosting a community concert from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, April 8 in the South Sumter High School gymnasium.

    The event will feature Jennifer Lee Rainey and Nevaeh, Nolan Hamm, Ali Carneglia and Bryce Mauldin, Jacob Brown, Josh Brown and T.J. Rainey.

    The school concession stand will also be open.

    Funds will be used to support the annual Project Graduation - hosting seniors for a celebration on their graduation night.

    Tickets are $5 each.
