  • IT’S ALMOST TIME! WILLFEST ARRIVES MARCH 9-11

    More than  50 of Florida’s finest acoustic singer/songwriters will converge in the woods at the Sertoma campground for the 23rd annual Will McLean Music Festival March 9, 10, 11.
    Beginning Friday noon, stages, workshops, crafts and food booths open and festivities continue until Sunday at 6 p.m.
    Stages open Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and go until midnight.
    Besides performances on three stages, workshops are offered, free to attendees.

    The Gator Event
    The United Church of Christ at The Villages will host “The Gator Event,” a day apart filled with special discussions on Saturday, Feb. 18, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the church, located at 12514 County Rd 101, in Oxford, one mile north of County Rd 466.     Shaun Howard Brennan, 36, The Villages, was arrested for possession of narcotic equipment and driving while license suspended. Bond set at $10,500.
    James Daniel Clark, 36, Wildwood, was arrested for battery. Bond set at $500.
    Christopher Spink, 35, The Villages, was arrested for larceny. Bond set at $2,000.
    Obdulio Lopez, 33, Oxford, was arrested on a Marion County warrant. No bond set.

    Fairway Christian Church
    The food donations for the Wildwood Food Pantry will be collected after all the services at Fairway Christian Church on Feb. 11 and 12.
    Fairway singles will be dining out at the Applebee’s on Hwy. 441/27 on Monday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
    Fairway’s movie night will be held on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The featured film is “Courageous.”
    The Discover Your Ministry class will be held at Fairway on Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided and sign up is required 352-259-9305.

    The Refuge at Jumper Creek that provides emergency shelter and transitional housing for families is having a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Refuge is located at 4912 S.E. 7th Dr., Hwy. 301 and C.R. 542 E (across from Bushnell Family Dentistry). Go east until you see the sign on left.

    Annie Moses Band
    to perform
    The acclaimed family musical ensemble The Annie Moses Band will be bringing their unique blend of Classical, Christian, Folk and Pop Music to First Baptist Church in Bushnell February 19 at 6:30 pm. This is a Love Offering Event.

    A night filled with the deserving recognition of those who give of themselves in the service of others occurred the evening of Dec. 14, 2011, as the members of Sumter County Fire and EMS and their families attended the organization’s Annual Awards Ceremony and Celebration. The program was designed to recognize accomplishments, show appreciation, and celebrate the employees for their commitment. WVLG radio personality, Rob Newton, served as the Master of Ceremonies and set the tone for the night of appreciation and recognition.
