  • Indian Hill Fall Festival

    IndianHill Baptist Churchwill host their annual Fall Festival at 4 p.m. on Oct. 11. The church is located at  7319 C.R. 633 in  Bushnell.

    It’s free family fun and open to the public.

    Activities for all ages including:  Pee Wee games, face painting, dunk tank, sack races, tug-of-war, volleyball and a special visit from Smoky the Bear.

    There’ll be a baked goods contest, quilt raffle, 50/50 raffle and scarecrow building contest, as well as a live gospel music.

    Special meal
    South Sumter High School Project Graduation will be having a chicken and rice dinner. All dinners will include chicken and rice, green beans, roll, and dessert. The cost of each dinner is $7. Due to limited quantities, you must pre-purchase tickets and have them with you upon pick up. Tickets can be purchased through Stephanie Sponaugle at South Sumter High School or Tracey Bumpis at Leveritt and Associates.

    Food giveaway
    On Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon there will be a USDA food giveaway at the Church of The Fisherman.
    USDA giveaways are on the 1st Wednesday of the month. A limited number of packages are available on a first come first served basis. All are welcome. The Church of The Fisherman is at 589 N C.R. 470 in Lake Panasoffkee. Please call 352-793-3438 for more information.

  • Friends, food and 'Vettes set for Wildwood Friday night

    "Friends, Food & ‘Vettes” food truck night is planned for Friday, Sept. 17 in the Wildwood City Hall Courtyard.  The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    This month, the “The Old Friends Band” will be playing songs from the 1970’s through the late 1980’s, country and easy listening.

    Restaurant row will be up and running along Wonders Street.

    St. Lawrence
    The St. Lawrence Catholic Church Altar Society is having a flea market and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the church grounds. Entrance to the sale is on Belt Avenue, not far from the Bushnell Community Building. Spaces are available for a $5 donation. Call Jean Petty, 793-7773, to make reservations.

    Arts Guild
    Effective through Sept. 24, Sumter County Parks and Recreation will be renovating the Sumterville Community Building. As a result, during this period the Sumter County Arts Guild will meet at the Lake Panasoffkee Recreation Center at 1589 C.R. 459, Lake Panasoffkee. Meeting day and time remains the same: Wednesdays between 1 and 3 p.m. The members of the Sumter County Arts Guild invite all artisans to attend - get and give ideas on current projects from painting to stained glass, from wood carving to drawing, etc.

    Center Hill Bible Study
    The First Baptist Church of Center Hill will start a Bible study of the Old Testament on Wednesday nights. It will be a group-participation study starting with Genesis and go through Malachi. The study will begin at 6 p.m. and finish about 7 p.m. each Wednesday. The church is at 175 S. Virginia Ave., Center Hill. Contact phone, 352-461-6089. Regular Bible study is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 6 pm. All Bible studies will be held in the fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome.
