  • Chamber names new executive director

    The Sumter County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has moved unanimously to hire Andrew Cripps as its new executive director. Cripps has more than 12 years experience as a chamber executive. He is scheduled to begin his new duties Feb. 28.
    In announcing the selection, Chamber President Dawn Cary said, “Andy’s chamber experience and communication skills will be an asset to the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce and we are very excited to have him on board to be a part of the exciting growth opportunities in Sumter County.”

    Sumter County Chamber of Commerce is affiliated with a new business referral group that meets in Bushnell. The group mirrors the Leads Group North that meets regularly in Wildwood.
    Chamber board member Joe Capporelli of Edward Jones Investments and Samantha Merritt, of the Chamber, are currently recruiting central and south businesses to join the group.

    The Fifth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces it is accepting applications for one circuit court vacancy resulting from the retirement of Judge Stephen O. Rushing, effective March 31, 2011.

    Applicants must have been members of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, registered voters and must reside in the territorial jurisdiction at the time of assuming office.
