Managing for longbeards

            Whether you oversee a large tract of land or own a smaller parcel, there are many wildlife management techniques you can use to help attract wild turkeys to your property.

The Florida Forest Service has begun its fall and winter prescribed burning program on the Withlacoochee State Forest. “Prescribed fire is one of the most effective land management tools used on our state forest lands to prevent the outbreak and spread of wildfires, and to promote a healthy forest”, says Chuck Schneider, Forestry Operations Administrator of the Withlacoochee Forestry Center.

Bushnell Dixie Youth Baseball League annual meeting and election of officers will be Tuesday August 23rd at 6:30pm at the Bushnell Community Center.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will begin accepting applications on May 4 for a chance to obtain highly coveted permits to participate in the statewide alligator harvest.

Applications submitted in Phase I will be entered in a random drawing to assign permits. Applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. (EDT) May 4 through 11:59 p.m. (EDT) May 17. More than 6,000 alligator harvest permits will be available.
