Authorities investigating reported hit and run in Orange County

 Authorities have determined the identity of the man found lying in a ditch in Orange County this morning as Jorge Arias, 49, of Orlando - the victim of a hit and run, according to an Florida Highway Patrol report.

They believe the crash occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m., as Arias was riding to work on a bicycle.

According to the report, an unidentified vehicle was eastbound on Colonial Drive in the right lane and Arias was eastbound on the paved shoulder, when the front of the vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle. Arias was thrown from the bicycle, into a water-filled ditch, surrounded by tall grass, where his body was not found until just before 10 a.m. this morning.

The driver of the vehicle then fled, according to the report.

Arias was wearing an orange safety vest when he was struck.

According to Montes, investigators have found part of the grill of the vehicle involved.
