  • Pioneer Christmas at Dade

“It’s a great way to start the Christmas season,” Mark Waggie, an Altamonte Springs resident said, homemade wreath in hand, outside a Dade Battlefield pavilion on Saturday. Waggie was just one of hundreds who turned out for the historic state park’s annual Christmas on the Florida Frontier.

This is an event that park staff and an army of volunteers produce each year to provide visitors with a glimpse of how folks celebrated the holidays and lived during the state’s early years of settlement.
