  • When my oldest daughter was 4 or 5 we were riding with my mom and Alison blurted out, “Grandma, want to know a family secret?” I sat in the passenger seat frozen, not sure what my daughter was about to say.

  • The Sumter Community Action Partnership (C.A.P.) has been established.  Numerous community partners have met and planned local events to help "Put a Cap on Substance Abuse in Sumter County."

    The coalition partners represent important community organizations and institutions which include: parents, businesses, schools, youth organizations, law enforcement agencies, religious organizations, civic and volunteer groups, healthcare professionals and state, local governmental agencies.

    Registration for the free Quit Smoking Now Program is now open at Clark Clinic in Bushnell. Classes will begin at 10 a.m. on select Tuesdays and run for 5weeks beginning in January 2016. Free nicotine therapy is available while supplies last. Call 793-2441 and register today!
    Smoking cessation/diabetes classes Langley Health Services, in Sumterville, offers free smoking cessation and diabetes classes that are held here on selective days. The participants do not have to be a patient of Langley’s. For more information contact Lisa at 793-2356.

        If you don't count people or God, or maybe cake with buttercream icing, I think what I love most in life is wonder.

        I love the sense of surprise mixed with curiosity, of awe and bewilderment and delight -- all rolled into one emotion.

    on March 20, Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, at 10 a.m. Oxford Assembly of God is at 11214 North Highway 301, Oxford. Just north of 466.
