  • Wave goodbye to your local government

Wave goodbye South Sumter residents, your local government representatives are headed north. Well, maybe it’s not quite that dramatic — but changes are brewing.

With the County Commission last month approving a resolution that allows the county seat to include all of Sumter County, instead of just Bushnell, you better believe that the main focus of county government will be leaving the Bushnell area and heading toward the county’s population center, The Villages.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,” wrote Charles Dickens. At Lake-Sumter Community College, we can relate to his ambivalence.

    Thank you Wal-Mart

    and Winn Dixie

The Knights of Columbus want to thank the management of both the Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie stores for letting us use their front entrance for our annual Tootsie-Roll drive.

Wal-Mart also donated a matching fund of $1,000 to help us reach our goal.

Many thanks to all the staff of both stores, their customers and the ladies of the auxiliary for their wonderful generosity.
